Royal Embroidery

On behalf of Her Majesty Queen Máxima, Textielmuseum has asked the Queer Needlework Circle to collaborate on the new curtains for Palace Huis ten Bosch in The Hague. The Textielmuseum designed a contemporary remake of the 18th century original curtains from the Chinese Hall of the palace. More than 175 hand embroiderers in fifteen different craft groups throughout the Netherlands have been working on the development of this new cultural heritage. The Queer Needlework Circle has been selected by Her Majesty herself as one of the craft groups. From December 2022 to May 29th 2023, the result of the curtains will be exhibited in the Textile Museum Tilburg, as well as a number of embroideries representing the Queer Needlework Circle in the 'Royal Embroidery' exhibition.
